Los campos electromagnéticos

Jorge Carrión + Taller Estampa + GPT-2 and 3

One hundred years after the publication of the emblematic surrealist work The Magnetic Fields, by André Breton and Philippe Soupault, composed by means of automatic writing, this is the first collaboration in Spanish between people and machines for the production of a book. The writer Jorge Carrión and Taller Estampa programmed and fed a GPT-2 artificial intelligence system and dialogued with another, GPT-3, in order to generate two literary texts: exercises in speculative writing, at times surreal, as hypnotic as they are disturbing. An introduction and an epilogue complete the volume by constructing an essay on the theories and practices of artificial writing, in which Carrión sheds light on the past, present and future of the fascinating link between aesthetic creation and automation.
