The Getxophoto festival collaborates with Kutxa Fundazioa by intervening in its photographic archive, Fototeka, and inviting artists to develop a project based on its digital collection.
Paisanajes is a countercurrent interpretation of the Fototeka archive. Based on the detection of recurring postures in the photographs—poses, gestures, and other bodily positions characteristic of the “landscaping” of the era—the still images are transformed into moving images. This fictitious choreography, or chronophotography, appropriates the archive as a starting point to create a possible piece of experimental cinema, an expanded filmic exercise that connects bodies and ways of occupying space across different historical times.
